Description

This picture like all the others on my gallery was not drawn by me. This was a commission I had done by [link] Bloodwise did an amazing job drawing Tayaere, my priestess on WrA in World of Warcraft.

Decided to give a bit more detail to the scene here.

The Draenei 'Exiled Ones' have suffered great losses throughout their times of running from planet to planet trying to escape the enemies that chased them. Centuries ago a family along with many others met a horrid fate upon the crashing of one of their ships.

When this crash came the parents of two twins failed to survive the wreckage and the injuries. A lone shaman named Amboro came and took in the twin girls and made them his own. Sadly one of the twins was not strong enough and soon too joined her parents in the other world. This left only the mute child, Tayaere alive of their bloodline.

Tayaere made a promise as they put her sister to rest. One that spoke on how she would never forget her family for as long as she lived and that she would find a way to honor their passing. Years, years later she returns each week or each month and plays her flute for them and all else who have died. She will sit here for hours on end simply playing out her heart and her thoughts, unable to say otherwise how she feels to her family.

The song she is most often heard playing is one of sorrow but one of remembrance. tinyurl.com/taysadflute

I really wish I saw this theme in WoW more often; past remorse tempered by future hope.

Given the number of calamities they suffered throughout WoW history, it's surprising that there are any Draenei left at all. Yet even after being decimated by the Horde, twisted into The Broken, and caught in the Exodar crash, those who are left are not only persevering, but thriving. Seeing any species (even a fictional one) rising again after such a close brush with extinction is truly inspirational; a sentiment you captured beautifully in this picture.
